Pinched Nerve

What is a pinched nerve?

A “pinched nerve” is a vague term describing some type of irritation of a spinal or a peripheral nerve. Nerves can be mechanically irritated or “pinched” by a disc, bone, or muscle but they can also be irritated chemically by inflammation around the nerve. A pinched nerve can happen in various locations in the body, essentially anywhere along the path of a nerve. The sports chiropractors at Premier Sports and Spine Center have advanced training in locating an entrapment site of a nerve and offering efficient and effective treatment therapy to resolve the condition rapidly and keep it from coming back. Pinched nerves are frequently treated at both our Eden Prairie and Eagan locations.

Some of the most common locations for pinched nerves are:

  • Neck
  • Mid back
  • Low back
  • Hip

  • Forearm
  • Wrist

  • Numbness
  • Tingling

What can a sports chiropractor do about a pinched nerve?

Treating pinched nerves can be very tricky. The sports chiropractors at Premier Sports and Spine Center are extremely experienced in diagnosing and treating this condition. We use that experience to determine the best-individualized treatment therapy for each patient. This may involve conservative treatment or advanced imaging to help rule out more significant conditions. The therapies our sports chiropractors specialize in and utilize include joint mobilization, ART, transverse friction massage, and dry needling. Each of these or a combination of several therapies can take pressure off the nerve and provide relief from pain.
